Vanessa Jane is a Milliner providing bespoke hats and headwear for your special occasions. Vanessa originally trained and worked as a theatrical set and costume designer. She has designed and painted sets, and created and made costumes, props, masks and hats over many years working for a variety of companies across the country including English National Opera, English National Ballet and Glyndebourne.

A fascinator, originally referred to a lacy piece of fabric women would drape over their heads has now become much more sophisticated and decorative. They can be large or small for any occasion, and they are often an alternative to a large hat.I provide a personalised service, whatever type of headwear you choose. Vanessa originally trained and worked as a theatrical set and costume designer. She has designed and painted sets, and created and made costumes, props, masks and hats over many years working for a variety of companies across the country including English National Opera, English National Ballet and Glyndebourne.Vanessa’s involvement in the creative industries has meant that she has become not only an accomplished designer and maker but also an experienced and well-respected teacher.Her theatrical experience places her in the unique position of being able to produce hats and headpieces from any era particularly from what is considered to be the “vintage “ era of the 1940’s, 50’s, and 60’s as you will see from the examples on this site in the period section. Vanessa developed her love for hats while working in the theatre which has led her to step into the world of couture millinery.
